Meet Miram Hyslop, Piano Teacher Substitute In 2009, Miriam Hyslop graduated from Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Pedagogy. She currently resides in Johns Island and works at the Old South Carriage Company in Charleston where she enjoys feeding, grooming and monitoring the health of the horses used for carriage tours in historic downtown Charleston. Miriam operated the Miriam Hyslop Piano Studio from 2004 to 2010. She taught piano and music theory to beginning and early intermediate students aged six through adult. Miriam used different teaching methods based on her individual student's needs, including two autistic children who greatly benefited from their lessons. Miriam was a history of Jazz Intern. During her internship, she led classes when the professor was absent. In addition, she organized and led exam review sessions and provided private tutoring. From the Fall of 2006 to the Spring of 2007, Miriam served as an instern for the Choral Library Intern where she recorded and entered music into their database and shelved and organized recorded music. In the fall of 2005, she was a World Music Intern. When she is not busy caring for the horses at the Old South Carriage
Company, Fancy Fingers Piano Studio is fortunate to have Miram as a
substitute teacher. She is a vital part of staff and helps
minimize the cancellation of lessons due to unforeseen circumstances.
Her talent and patience are assets to the Studio. Her part-time
work at Fancy Fingers Piano Studio is greatly appreciated. She has
become a favorite among the students and enjoys sharing her love of
music with others.
